The great irony is many middle eastern oil companies are already pumping money into Chinese and European solar and alternative energy companies like mad. So I predict the day when some mouth breather holds this fact up as a reason to burn coal - because solar energy supports the middle East.
Full of the sound of the Gran Fury, signifying nothing.

Is thi s from The Onion? It reeks of Onion.
But then again, these days I’m not surprised by anything no matter how ridiculously transparent it appears.

Reducing international dependence on Russian natural gas is good.

Our country definitely fell ass-backwards into all this accidental natural gas...I mean, I’m glad for the self-sufficiency aspect of it, but it’s not like we did it as part of some big strategic plan. It’s not super profitable except as a by-product of oil exploration. It’s sort of like how our country is relatively safe due to having just 2 foreign borders and a couple huge oceans.
Don’t take it for granted.

If fossil fuels are "molecules of freedom", then what is CO2?

I’m still not convinced that the whole shale “revolution” won’t end in tears eventually. It’s never been consistently profitable in my understanding but Wall Street keeps pumping it with money in the hopes it will generate returns...someday. I’m surprised it’s gone on as long as it has

From what I understand is the fracking is cheap to get started but a more expensive extraction method overall. So when oil gets over that break even point you start seeing more and more fracking operations start up which helps bring the pri ce back down. So it really swings back and forth, if there is ever a long term oil price spike above that break even point you’ll see fracking everywhere.
